Works are continuing at pace on the Cambridge South Infrastructure Enhancements (CSIE) project, delivering a new four-platform station to serve Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Works have been progressing to establish the new station footprint on the east and west boundaries of the site. Significant amounts of earthworks have been undertaken to bring the ground to its required level, and both platform 1 and 3 have begun to take shape through the installation of precast concrete units.
At Beaulieu, Contract 1 includes work to begin construction and enabling work for the new station on behalf of partners Essex County Council and Chelmsford City Council. This phase of the work includes set up of site welfare, earthworks, civils, modifications to track and signalling systems to facilitate the main construction phase of the new facility. Contract 2 includes the main construction work for the new three-platform station alongside associated infrastructure including step-free access to all platforms via two lifts and parking for 700 cars
