Improvements at this station are underway as part of the expansion program to accommodate two-way, all-day rail service on the Barrie corridor. Station enhancements include new rail platforms with elevators and stairs for higher capacity passenger flow, more parking, an expanded bus loop, and upgrades to the Kiss & Ride.
As part of the new second track being added our scope includes grading, raceways, drainage, railway embankments, replacing retaining walls, noise barriers, utility relocations and connections, and track bed construction. As part of the corridor widening an overhead pedestrian bridge across Major Mackenzie Drive will also be installed to improve connectivity.
The pedestrian tunnels connecting passengers between the station and platform were installed by Kenaidan under a separate contract.
